Fọlklọre

June “First Friday” – Friday, June 1, 5-9pm
Seasons on St. Croix Gallery invites you to our FIRST FRIDAY CELEBRATION

Featuring Beth Marcus (painter) and Karen Sebesta (ceramic artist).

The gallery is excited to be presenting the works of two talented, innovative, technically amazing Hudson artists! the work created by both Beth and Karen reflects our roots, tells stories, and expresses their love of nature and folklore.

Beth works in tooled copper, aluminum, wood and paint. her pieces create vignettes of imagined scenarios in nature and truly tell a story. She usually imprints her designs into copper, paints the surface to accent the texture and then presents the pieces on wooden panels.

Through Karen’s love of Southwest and Mexican pottery, she has learned the native tradition of making clay, coil building, polishing and pit-firing her pottery. Her “folklore” connection rests largely in following the very labor-intensive techniques of native populations of generations past.

Come join us for an evening of artful conversation, refreshments, nibbles and live music! show remains up through July 1st.

Each artist is inspired by the nuances of their natural environment … be it the north woods of Minnesota, the rural landscape of south central Minnesota, the rolling hills of Wisconsin, or urban life in the city. Environment definitely influences their work.
