May “First Friday” – Friday, May 6, 2011, 5pm – 9pm.
featuring Joe Christensen, Jude Ryan Reiling + Kirk Freeman, Zac Spates
This annual event always delights the ceramics community. Resident artists Joe Christensen and Jude Ryan Reiling bring new work forward each year specifically for the show. Joe’s soda-fired vessels continue to surprise, delight and amaze admirers because of their scale, detailed carving and serene palette. Jude is expanding her figurative “farm” series that evoke vivid memories of past times and relationships. Their guests, Kirk Freeman and Zac Spates are both functional potters from the area. Kirk is a favorite gallery artist who is known for his warm ash glazes in earthy, rich hues. Zac is an “up and coming” artist who is developing a reputation for his lovely wood fired pieces.
