Origins

April “First Friday” – Friday, April 7, 5 – 9pm
Seasons on St. Croix Gallery invites you to our FIRST FRIDAY CELEBRATION

Featuring RYAN BALL (ceramics) and KATE GOMEZ (mixed media)

When it comes to artwork, “origins” can have many implications. It can mean the origins of the art or craft itself … as in the technical, scientific and/or methodology of the process. origins can also be related to the artist’s original inspirations, critical moments that lead an artist in one direction or another, heritage, and/ or memories and influences. Something is rooted within an artist that surfaces through their art form… something that is drawn from their origins.

We are delighted that both Ryan and Kate have been willing to explore this topic with us. Ryan explains his connection to pottery and its origins this way … “when I make pots, I get to use science and technology while honoring a craft dating back thousands of years to the beginnings of civilizations.” Kate on the other hand explored it on a more personal level, recalling her first introduction to art, revisiting and recreating an older piece of her own work, and also accessing memories from years gone by. It is going to be an amazing show!

Join us for great art, conversation with the artists, nibbles, refreshments and live music.

The show will remain up until through April 30th, 2017.
